Killdeer senior center Megan Klein graces the cover of the 2011-12 edition of 'Tipoff' which hits mailboxes inside The Advertizer next Wednesday.
Here is The Dickinson Press Region 7 boys and girls basketball preseason coaches and media poll, compiled by the voting of area coaches as well as five area media members, including myself and Press sports reporter Royal McGregor, for use in our annual basketball preview, Tipoff, which is published Wednesday, Dec. 7 in The Advertizer.
In boys, New England and Beulah are the overwhelming favorites to win the district titles while Beulah, the Hoopster’s preseason No. 1 in the state, is favorite to win the region title. Dickinson Trinity was picked second behind Beulah in both the district and region.
On the girls side, things are much closer as defending Region 7 champion Beach was picked to win District 13 for a fourth consecutive season and the region for a third while District 14 is expected to be a tight race between Beulah, Killdeer and Dickinson Trinity.
The polls were created using the same point system as the North Dakota Associated Press Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association uses for its weekly polls. Each voter created separate district and region polls. Votes in parentheses are first-place votes for that team.
