Dickinson High School graduate Cole Frenzel has been playing for the Savannah (Ga.) Sand Gnats since Saturday.
Frenzel, 22, was called up to the South Atlantic League Class A affiliate of the New York Mets after Brian Harrison, Savannah’s hottest hitter, was played on the seven-day disabled list.
In three games, Frenzel is 2-for-13 (.154) with a pair of singles but has struck out four times, which isn’t good since Harrison has been hitting .350 in the last 10 games.
The Sand Gnats play every day this week. They play at Greenville (S.C.) Drive Tuesday and Wednesday and then head home for a four-game series against the Greensboro (N.C.) Grasshoppers.
